The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds." 2 Corinthians 10:4 (NIV)
Good Morning,
Today I read through the book of Job, in its entirety and was astonished at its power over me. I have been struggling with weariness lately and have felt as if God has forgotten His plan for me. Sometimes in the stationary moments of our lives God begins to refine us for unknown tasks, in those moments the flesh wars against the Spirit willing to be useful in some way, we seek to find our own usefulness instead of Gods. I recommend reading Job when you feel that you are on the right road to knowing God, when you are in the midst of winning the easily seen battles. It reminds me that sometimes the real battles are in the idle times of life, when service is set aside, and work is done. As I read Job, I became so angry at his friends, instead of encouraging Job and helping him they badgered him. Job just kept asking God, please tell me what is wrong speak to me, he seem to battle between being angry for the punishment he didn't deserve to being so distraught that he wanted to just die. I have never been as righteous as Job, he was a well respected pillar of his community. He gave to the poor, widows, homeless, he made offerings for his children's sin, he saved people from unscrupulous men, he was just an awesome guy, and he was tried, he had trials. Not because he was unrighteous, because God wanted to strengthen him and others around him. This is why we have trials, to strengthen us and others around us. The Word of God is a weapon, it is a stronghold, if you don't pick it up and use it, it can't help you. I definitely need to be in His word more often so it is stored in my heart, so it can easily be brought to mind in trials, so I can cling to it like a rock in a rushing river. May God Bless you with His Word today, and be that rock for you in the river of life!
